Canyoning – Raizama

The activity is done at the Raizama Sanctuary, a private property close to Sao Jorge Village.

Firstly explored in 1995, Raizama is a landmark of Brazilian Canyoning, holding what were the first canyoning expeditions in the country. Five abseiling e three falls, Raizama is an aquatic, confined, canyon with many natural wells, climbing, and descents.

Before the activity begins, conductors gear up and instruct the group of all procedures and techniques to be used and do one-on-one training with all participants.

The one kilometer course takes about 4 hours going down the Sao Miguel river course, conquering its obstacles. At first, abseiling passing by a ring-like rock falling down a narrow canyon. There are a total of 5 abseiling, many falls and swimming through places where a few people have the opportunity to ever go.
