Dances like Sussa and Katira, The Cacada da Rainha, religious and folcloric events, retreats, and other therapies are all in the mix.

Traditional Cultures of the Chapada dos Veadeiros Summit
Sao Jorge
The Traditional Cultures Summit is promoted by Sao Jorge’s Culture House in partnership with the Sao Jorge Residents Association and reunites groups and masters of different Brazilian traditional cultures, indigenous people, artists and tourists in celebrations and workshops, sharing knowledge and experiences. More and more people are attracted each year to this event held in this former crystal miner’s village and what happens there generates important developments to the whole region. The local economic movement brings resources that spread out the cities around, bringing jobs and investments, not only of material but mostly social and educational values. The long term goal of the event is to shine light on the cultural and humane riches of the region, making possible the recognition as Cultural Heritage for Humanity by UNESCO. The event happens every July.
Kalunga Festivities
Cavalcante
To know the Kalunga people, as important as their History is their Festivities, which are the family reunions. The Kalungas hold an implicit knowledge that makes them work faithfully in preparing their devotional celebrations. Through these gatherings, costumes encounter heritage. Rural Catholicism traits may have been inserted by their white landlords during slavery, since they used to follow that religion. Kalungas have an all-year calendar of festivities, like the Festa do Imperio and the Levantamento de Mastro, which has complex choreography and gather hundreds of visitors.Their celebrations and dances are moved by old sing-alongs and its rhythms come from instruments designed and made by them with “Cerrado’s Fruits”.
Main Celebrations are: Festa de Santo Antonio, at the Engenho in July; Festa de Nossa Senhora D’Abadia, at the Vão de Almas in August; Festa de Nossa Senhora do Livramento, at the Vão do Moleque in September.

The Chapada dos Veadeiros handcraft is composed of regional products made by loom, wood, crystals and other stones, flowers and natural fibers of the Cerrado, Indian and Peruvian articles, clothing, stickers. Not to mention foods of all kinds like desserts, cookies, nuts, essential oils and liquor.
